IMSA GT Corvette C3 Widebody
Several cars in history have stood the test of time. Race/track cars are no different. Unfortunately many of these cars were destroyed in collisions on the race track. The survivors that exist today are very rare and very expensive.
RC Speed & Paint has made several of these icons within reach through detailed reproductions.
Our new iconic reproduction is the infamous widebody C3 Corvette that raced in the GT and AAGT series of the mid 1970′s.
Our IMSA cars are not kit cars. They are highly modified, serial numbered C3 corvettes, ready for vintage racing or for the street.
You get historic flared and sculpted fiberglass exteriors, stock or tube frames, corvette suspension and brakes.
RC Speed and Paint created our own molds for the ex
terior. The running gear, powertrain, and suspension are vintage in appearance but are modern components which are easy to obtain, repair, or replace. This way maintenance costs remain low and you are not paying for expensive “one-off” built items.
Vintage racing should be fun, not expensive and time consuming waiting on parts from all over the globe or waiting on specialty parts to be repaired or built from scratch. We at RC Speed & Paint know when you buy a car to race, you want it on the track, not in your garage waiting on specialty parts.
The IMSA widebody cars we build use stock corvette parts for brakes, front suspension, rear suspension, and IRS rear ends. We then build the complete fiberglass widebody in house with removable clips. Race damaged body parts can be easily repaired or replaced.
Three choices of new improved frames are available. All of these frames will accept original corvette suspension, and modern racing safety equipment is installed throughout.
These cars look, sound, and handle like the originals but at a fraction of the price. They are highly competitive in the vintage class and would give their modern counterparts a decent run.
As the years pass, original cars available to run exhibition class vintage races becomes less and less due to the high dollar value of the originals. Vintage clubs around the world realize this dilema and are allowing reproduction race cars to run in these classes for the enjoyment of the race fans. Fans want to see these cars run door to door all out.
We keep our cars exremely close to the originals, allowing us and you the opportunity to run these cars in vintage racing, full out, without the concern of destroying or devaluing a high dollar original.
Get out on the track and run our cars hard!
